During your shift, volunteers are expected to: Welcome visitors with a friendly, approachable attitude. Engage attendees in conversation rather than waiting for them to approach the booth. Share the Foundation's mission, programs, and volunteer opportunities using the materials provided. Encourage visitors to sign up for our email list, Champions volunteer network, or volunteer portal when appropriate. Answer basic questions about the Foundation or direct visitors to another volunteer if you're unsure. Help keep the booth organized, stocked, and inviting throughout your shift. Represent the Woodbury Community Foundation in a positive, professional, and inclusive manner. Our goals for every shift are to: Create genuine conversations with community members. Increase awareness of the Woodbury Community Foundation and its community impact. Recruit new volunteers, Champions, committee members, and supporters. Introduce residents to ways they can give back through volunteering, donating, or participating in our programs. Strengthen relationships with community partners and current supporters. What success looks like: Rather than simply handing out giveaways or brochures, we hope every volunteer helps visitors leave with a better understanding of who we are, why our work matters, and one meaningful way they can become involved in making Woodbury an even stronger community. Please arrive 10–15 minutes before your scheduled shift so we can provide a brief orientation, answer questions, and ensure a smooth transition between volunteers.
